A List Of The 5 Most Expensive Ads Ever Made

Celebrities and dream destinations aren’t cheap! Here are 5 of the most expensive ads ever made:

5. Bud Light ‘Up for Whatever’ (2014)  - $12 Million

This ad for the 2014 Super Bowl racked up quite a high price tag. This hidden camera style commercial follows Ian through the craziest night of his life, involving riding a limo with Reggie Watts, being packed into an elevator with Don Cheadle and a Llama, and battling Arnold Schwarzeneggar in a life or death game of table tennis. Oh, and the ad ends with Ian performing with OneRepublic. Wild, right?

With all those celebrities, it’s no wonder how Bud Light got that $12 Million dollar bill.

4. Chrysler ‘Imported from Detroit’ (2011) - $12 Million

This ad once again proves celebrities are expensive. To introduce the new luxury chrysler 200, rapper Eminem stars in the ad, retelling the gritty and lengthy history of Detroit.

But, $12 Million for only one celebrity? I can only imagine how expensive it would be to have 4 celebrities. Oh, wait….

3. Aviva ‘Names’ (2008) - $13.4 Million

When Norwich Union, a British insurance company, changed their name to Aviva, they shelled out over $13 Million dollars to hire famous celebrities. The ad itself wasn’t great or really high quality, but when you have Bruce Willis, Ringo Starr, Elle McPherson, and Alice Cooper, does it really matter?

2. Guinness ‘Tipping Point’ (2007) - $16 Million

Guinness proved that sometimes a creative idea is better than just a famous face. Creating a giant series of dominoes leading to a huge statue of a pint of Guinness, the $16 Million dollar budget was used for the expensive material costs and the ability to film on location in Iruya, a tiny village in Argentina.

Whether it's a famous person or a faraway location, these things carry a pretty hefty price tag, but none compare to the ad in the number 1 spot.

And the #1 most expensive ad ever made is…

1. Chanel ‘The Film’ (2004) - $33 Million

This 3 minute long ad cost over $33 Million dollars! The luxury perfume ad for Chanel No. 5 starred Nicole Kidman and was directed by Baz Luhrmann, both at the height of their careers! The ad debuted in theaters prior to Bridget Jones: the Edge of Reason, which ironically enough had a budget of $40 Million.
