Around 113 million viewers tune in to watch the Super Bowl each year. Not all viewers are watching the program for the game, but actually for the iconic advertisements. Some people look at the commercials for innovative production skills, others are searching for their new favorite product. Big name brands like Pepsi have transformed regular commercials into can’t-miss moments, creating innovative advertisements that highlight the brand while adapting to current trends in society. Here are some memorable productions from Pepsi.

Pepsi: Cindy Crawford (1992)

An older but memorable Pepsi commercial was in 1992 when famous actress Cindy Crawford showed off the can’s new design. During the time this commercial was put out, Cindy Crawford was on the cover of many fashion magazines and seen all over the media. By putting her in this commercial, not only does it expose her fans to the Pepsi brand, but it shows that trendy people like Crawford drink beverages like Pepsi. This advertisement was a creative way to promote both the model and the soda and encourage fans to explore both of their work in a trendy and fun way.

Pepsi: Now And Then (2002)

Another memorable commercial was when singer Britney Spears recreated vintage Pepsi ads. By remaking famous and catchy ads across multiple decades, she gave Pepsi fans a nostalgic reminder of the company’s long history. Looking through Pepsi’s past will bring up old memories for people of times when they too enjoyed a refreshing Pepsi.

These two older Pepsi advertisements are notable because they contributed to the idea that celebrities can promote a brand. Fans of both Pepsi and these iconic celebrities will find the ad both entertaining and trustworthy.

Pepsi: Doritos Blaze vs Mountain Dew Ice (2018)

Pepsi still continues to entertain Super Bowl fans to this day. A more recent advertisement in 2018 showed a Doritos Blaze vs Mountain Dew Ice lip syncing battle. The performances by famous actors Peter Dinklage and Morgan Freeman attracts fans of their work and blends it with their love of the different Pepsi products. The brand has continued to use famous actors to promote their brand, but this time adding an entertaining element that suggests that consumers can also have this much fun when enjoying the company’s many products.

The different advertising productions throughout the years have both entertained and influenced Super Bowl viewers. These commercials have changed the face of the advertising industry by creating such a large increase in demand. According to PR Newswire, Super Bowl ads increase female demand for a product by 21% and an overall increase in viewer demand by 6.4%.  Despite the high costs that many big name brands pay to have high end production, there are hundreds of millions of viewers making their investments worthwhile.

These advertisements are just a few examples of how Pepsi has kept up with current trends in the media to attract a new audience throughout time. Pepsi’s advertisements are worth noticing because the company has been able to increase their demand for the same product for many years through their creative productions. Watching a Pepsi commercial on Super Bowl night is always a fun production to look forward to.

From past to present, Super Bowl ads have become more and more extravagant, and Pepsi has been one of the companies at the heart of that innovation. One thing that will never change is the reputation a brand like Pepsi creates for itself by showing the consumers what they represent. Simple commercials evolved into something bigger and better than ever before.
